Everyone knows that there’s a kid from Final Fantasy X-2 named Shinra, and at first glance it may seem like a reference to Final Fantasy VII. But what isn’t said outright in the story is that he would propregate a line of descendants that would build rocket ships, leave Spira and travel to a new world and start a planet domineering electrical company.
So actually Final Fantasy VII is a distant sequel to Final Fantasy X-2.
